Software Freedom Day 2011 - Minutes

The Software Freedom Day 2011 Celebrations were filled with lot of fun
and enthusiasm at MIT,Chrompet Chennai on September 17, 2011

We had 18 stalls as follows

.

8. Subversion&GIT
9. Firefox Addons
10. Spoken-Tutorial
11. Mozilla
12. Tamil Wikipedia

16. Open Source CDs and Books
17. Ruby on Rails(RoR)
18. Educational Software

We had a lot of new volunteers for the stalls.

Though the visitors are less then any other years, the stall
volunteers shared the knowledge
to the attended visitors and other stall peers.

Spoken-Tutorial CDs for Linux/Python/Latex and stickers were
distributed to the visitors.

Yogesh explained on how to participate in a open source community to
get help and to contribute.
He emphasized the importance of doing the final year project by own
and doing it as a contribution for
any open source application.

Choosing the best stalls for prizes was so tough as everyone showed
their best enthusiasm.
Tamil Wikipedia, Ruby, Mozilla teams got the prizes.
We gave them the book "Introduction to Python"

We presented Rs 200 for all the stalls as a gift.

Thanks for all the volunteers and donors.
Thanks a lot for Mr.Vimalesh, computer Society of MIT and the team for
their endless efforts.

Call for Volunteers - Demo stalls for Software Freedom Day 2011

Indian Linux Users Group, Chennai [ http://ilugc.in ] is celebrating the "Software Freedom Day"
[ http://softwarefreedomday.org ]
every year on September month. We setup the demo stalls on various
Free Open source Software to public to demonstrate them.

In 2011, we celebrate it on September 17.

Place is yet to confirm. Will confirm it soon.

We need volunteers for the Free Software Demo.

Software Freedom Day by ILUGC

September 19, 2010 is a grand celebration day for ILUGC.

The software freedom day is celebrated at Birla Planetarium, Chennai.

We had 32 stalls, 87 presenters, around 550 visitors.

The day was filled with a lot of small intro talks, demos in the stalls.
The visitors are enlightened to see powers of the Free Open Source Softwares.

Thanks to Birla Planetarium, Chennai for providing the venue.
Thanks a lot for all the Volunteers.

Jaya Foss Club wishes everyone a grand Software Freedom Day on 18th September 2010. Jaya Foss Club has been incorporating a wide sense of open source knowledge to the students and public for the past 6 years under the guidance of the Department of CSE, Jaya Engineering College. We welcome you to participate in the following events and make this event a grand success:

1. Free Software Demo Stalls (Engineering Colleges, Polytechic and Arts and Science Colleges, Schools)

2. Technical talks have been arranged which would be held in parallel sessions

3. Online Quiz, Online Web Puzzles, Terminal Hack, Hole in the Code & lots of events are conducted

4. Distribution of free Linux distros

5. You can gain a lot of exposure with the open source technicians

Today, ILUGC celebrated software freedom day 09 at Birla Planetarium.

We had 27 stalls filed with the crowd.
The volunteers done a great job with big enthusiasm.
