Directions to reach the ADI-TeNeT Seminar Hall, CSD #320, ESB, IIT-Madras

Some detailed directions:

  1. Google Map
  2. Get in to the IIT-Madras MAIN IN gate.
  3. If you came WITHOUT any vehicle, take a Mini Battery Bus and get down at Gajendra Circle (GC). The cost of the ticket is Rs.~1/-. Then go to step 6.
  4. If you have a vehicle, speak to the security and tell then you need to go to the Electrical Sciences Block (ESB). They will give you a Gate Pass, that *YOU HAVE TO RETURN* when you come out. So don't lose it.
  5. Go straight, the road takes a fork with one going about 135 degrees to your right and goes to the OUT gate. The other gradually turns left. Unless you decide in the last minute not to attend take the "left". Its really not a left turn but I've seen confused people going the wrong way.
  6. As you go further you will come across another fork. Both roads go to GC (Gajendra Circle). The GC is your next landmark. I'd suggest you take the road on the left (nicer speed breakers and more scenic route). Keep going straight on this road for about 2.5KM. The road twists and turns quite a bit. You'll also hit 5-7 speed breakers on your way to GC.
  7. Finally you'll see a circle with a few cement elephants. This is the Gajendra circle. There are four roads that intersect here. The one on your left goes to the library, humanities and sciences block and to the hostels. The one on your right goes back to the exit (that is the road you'd be on had you taken a right in step 4). The one in the middle (straight ahead) goes adjacent to the Administrative and IC&SR buildings. Take this middle road and proceed for about 200 meters. First you'll see the administrative building on the left and the IC&SR building on the right then you'll see one turn to the right (leave that alone). Proceed further and you'll see the MSB (Mechanical Sciences Block) on your left and the workshop on your right.
  8. Take the first LEFT now where there is a sign board with the text "Class room complex and Electrical Science Block" on it. This road has a HUGE water tank on the right side and the Class room complex on the left. DON'T take Right turn, that will take you to Aerospace Dept and canteens.
  9. Go straight till you come to ESB building on your left with the name board "Deshpande Foundation Center for Network" in the entrance. Enter and We'll see if a sign can be put up. Now go to the CSD 320 in 3rd floor. **NOTE** : Entrance with "Deshapande Foundation", if you enter through other two entrances then it is difficult to reach the hall.
  10. In the 3rd floor, you will see the ADSP Lab. Next to this lab is our meeting room (Seminar hall). Opposite side (not exactly) you will see the HP Labs. On the way to 3rd floor, you will see Demo Lab in ground floor, FiLL Lab in 1st floor and NMS Lab in 2nd floor
  11. If you get this far you will be rewarded with the ILUGC meeting.
  12. NOTE: Sometime, due to double booking of the conf hall, the meeting may be shifted Media Lab Asia Conference Hall, which is in the 1st floor of the same building. For this, you have to enter through the next entrance and goto the 1st Floor. In the 1st floor, you will see a lab with Glass wall. The conference hall is just next to this lab.

Summary:

Get to the IN gate, take the left on the first (near entrance) and second forks. Go straight. Get to the GC. Go straight 200 mts. Take 3rd left before "HUGE" water tank. Go about 100 mts ahead the building on the left with "Deshapande Foundation" board is the place. Now go to CSD #320 in 3rd Floor.
